SUMMARY:Donne\, Death\, and the Doctors: the Elements of Wit - A talk with Dr. Tony Abbott
DESCRIPTION:Davidson Community Players announce that Dr. Tony Abbott\, professor emeritus at Davidson College\, will offer a preview of the Pulitzer prize-winning drama Wit by Margret Edson on Sunday\, Feb. 24 at 4:00 pm at the Armour Street Theatre located at 307 Armour Street in Davidson. Davidson Community Players will present Wit for three weeks only from February 28 thru March 17. Wit is a touching\, powerful play guided by the witty\, amusing\, profound\, and painful asides and soliloquies of the main character\, an intense English professor. Her only human contact seems to be through the compassionate nurse\, the scholar's old teacher\, and the audience -- the point being that we too often live our lives inside walled prisons of our own construction and then come to the end realizing that we have never lived at all. Dr. Abbott's talk entitled "Donne\, Death\, and the Doctors: the Elements of Wit" will explore the important role poet John Donne's work plays in the play. This talk is FREE but reservations are encouraged by calling the box office at 704-892-7953.
