First in the Southeast-Race to Walk is a specialty Health & Wellness Center that provides Hope for Those Afflicted with Spinal Cord Injuries. Dawn & Andy Bricker. A boating accident left Mooresville\, N.C.\, resident Dawn Bricker paralyzed from the neck down. As a mother of two children and a substitute teacher\, Dawn was always the provider and giver in her family and community. Now she was left to rely totally on the support of others. This life-changing injury prompted Dawn and her husband\, Andy\, to open Race to Walk\, a nonprofit center for individuals with spinal cord injuries and other nervous system disorders. Race to Walkis a non-traditional fitness facility devoted to providing comprehensive\, post-acute programs for individuals suffering from spinal cord injuries and other related neurological disorders. Specializing in exercise-based training\, the center provides state-of-the-art equipment and strategic training techniques in a safe and supportive environment. The center's goal is to assist each individual in maximizing health and well-being and improve quality of life.
