This program consists of six one-hour workshops starting January 8 based on the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2010 and the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. The six week program will meet every Wednesday at 1 p.m. at South Iredell Senior Center and cover the following topics: Eat healthy food that tastes good, eat healthy on a budget, quick, healthy meals and snacks, tips for losing weight and keeping it off, making healthy eating part of your total lifestyle, and physical activity is the key to living well. The relationship between nutrition and certain chronic diseases will also be discussed. Although the focus is not weight loss, participants who choose to do so may weigh in at the first session and will be provided additional tips on how to lose weight the healthy way. Participants may attend any or all sessions. Classes will be taught by Ann, Simmons, with the Iredell County Cooperative Extension Center. There is no charge, but registration is required by January 3.
