As of January 1, 2010, the lead paint rules went into effect in North Carolina. Remodelers, painters, electricians, carpenters, siding and drywall contractors; anyone who disturbs over 6 sq ft in a home built prior to 1978 is required to be certified. The Lake Norman Remodelers want to help you prepare for the new Lead Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) EPA rule by offering the Certified Renovator Training class with CONNOR Institute. This 8-hour EPA approved course will certify participants for the new Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting (Lead Renovators) training requirements. In 2008 the US EPA announced new rules for contractors who renovate or repair housing, child-care facilities or schools built before 1978. Under the new rules contractors and workers must have documented training and practice lead-safe work practices to reduce potential lead exposures during renovation and repair activities. The requirements apply to anyone such as painters, plumbers, electricians, and contractors who could potentially expose children to lead dust during their work.
