Dunbar Alumni proudly present this black history program for the community. The Dunbar School opened in 1941 on W. McLelland Avenue to serve black students of Mooresville during segregation. In 1968 integration diminished the need for seperate schools and the Dunbar School became an elementary school. It was renamed Woods School in 1972 and served elementary students until 1993 when it became the district's technology center.
Join us as we take a journey that teaches us to gather the best of what our past has taught us so that we can achieve our full potential as we move forward.
You wil notice the monument on site of the N.F. Woods / Former Dunbar campus in honor of the 27 years the school existed. Dunbar School 1941-1968 N.F Woods, Principal
