AARP Tax Aide assistance will be available at the South Iredell Senior Center on Thursdays and Fridays, Feb. 7—April 12 to help individuals file their taxes. This free service is available to all seniors and low-income individuals. Walk-ins will be taken on Thursdays and Fridays between the hours of 9 and 11 a.m. ONLY. The wait time will depend on the number of present individuals needing service and those with an appointment. To avoid a long wait, an appointment is strongly encouraged. Appointments will be made on a first-come/first-served basis and set between the hours of 8:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. You must bring all tax papers, your social security card, a photo ID, your checkbook and your 2017 tax return. An interpreter is available upon prior request for Spanish-speaking individuals, and a wheelchair is located at the Senior Center to help assist individuals who are physically impaired. In some cases, an AARP Tax Aide Counselor will go to a disabled person’s home to assist in completing taxes. If you are disabled and your impairment prevents you from being able to come on the set Tax Aide dates, please inform Senor Center staff, and they will make special arrangements with the counselors to have your taxes completed.
