The enrollment period to sign up for Medicare Part D or to make changes is now through December 7. Although the plans themselves do not change, companies can and do change their coverage from year to year, so it?s a good idea to always review what you have each year and make changes as needed to get the best coverage for you. Let the Seniors Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) help you choose a plan that best fits your need. We can also help you apply for Low Income Subsidy Assistance. Volunteer counselors are trained by the NC Dept. of Insurance and provide free individual assistance to people who are Medicare eligible. Counselors advise about Medicare, Medicare Part D, Low Income Subsidy Assistance, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage, long - term care insurance, assist with billing problems and Medicare fraud and abuse. Counselors are available at South Iredell Senior Center and Iredell Senior Center by appointment only.
