On June 23, 1947 the Civic Planning Council was chartered with the intent and purpose of creating a War Memorial Community Center for promoting and supervising recreational facilities in the Town of Mooresville and vicinity. On March 3, 1948 they opened offices with a staff to build a community center as planned with the War Memorial opening in October of that year for the betterment of the recreational needs and concerns of Mooresville and the surrounding area.
Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm, the community will celebrate the 65th anniversary of the grand opening of the War Memorial Center. The ceremony begins at 6:00 pm with an open house and refreshments to follow.
