Mayor Patrick McCrory, a likely gubernatorial candidate in 2012, recently voiced strong support for Arizona?s new tough immigration law. In 2003 he was appointed to the National Homeland Security Advisory Board by President Bush which he served on for three years.
Mr. McCrory has testified in front of Congress and is a frequent guest on national broadcast and cable news shows. He is also a full time co-host of a local NBC weekly news show. He is frequently asked to consult with other cities and participate in policy development with prominent national think tanks.
Mayor McCrory was the longest serving Mayor in the history of Charlotte, presiding from 1995-2009. Having retired from Duke Energy after 29 years of service in early 2008 to run for governor, he did not seek an eighth term as mayor and has since returned to the private sector becoming a national advocate on the economic benefits of transit.
Mayor McCrory is an energetic and engaging speaker. His campaign theme was ?The difference is leadership? which he continues to demonstrate in many roles. Mr. McCrory will speak about both NC and national issues and will be available to address some questions from the audience.
