Everyone wants to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer. This couldn?t be more true than for individuals that are homebound. The Weather Assistance Program can help to make homes energy efficient for low income households. Services are delivered to single-family homes, multi-family dwellings and mobile homes. A person does not have to own their home to be eligible for weatherization services. Those renting property can also apply but must have a written permission from their landlord before services can be performed. Landlords are required to make a small contribution toward the work to be completed. The question is how to get the word out that such services exist. That?s where care providers and aging services come into play. If we can inform you about these services, then in return, you can take the information to those in direct need. Please plan to attend this weather assistance workshop on Thurs., Feb. 27 from 11 a.m. to noon at the South Iredell Senior Center. Although the workshop targets family caregivers, health care providers, faith community members, and other professionals in the aging field, anyone interested in learning more about the weatherization program may attend. The workshop will be held at South Iredell Senior Center 202 N. Church St., Mooresville, in the lower level of the Citizen Center. To please call 704-662-3337 if you plan to attend.
