A boating accident left Mooresville, N.C., resident Dawn Bricker paralyzed from the neck down. As a mother of two children and a substitute teacher, Dawn was always the provider and giver in her family and community. Now she was left to rely totally on the support of others. This life-changing injury prompted Dawn and her husband, Andy, to open Race to Walk, a nonprofit center for individuals with spinal cord injuries and other nervous system disorders.
